Bertha Crawford, known as Big Bertha, is a Marvel Comics character. She first appeared in West Coast Avengers #46 (July 1989).
Big Bertha is a mutant with the ability to drastically alter her body mass. In her normal form, she maintains a slender, model-like physique. When she activates her mutant power, she can exponentially increase her size, strength, and durability.
Bertha is a founding member of the Great Lakes Avengers, a team of well-meaning but often ineffective superheroes based in the American Midwest. Her teammates have included Mr. Immortal, Flatman, and Doorman. While often portrayed as comedic, Big Bertha's powers and commitment to her team make her a surprisingly formidable hero.
